Luke Masson Disney Infinity is coming this August and with it a whole new line of figurines to collect, characters to enjoy, and a new exciting way to integrate physical items with the digital realm. One of the new features introduced in Disney Infinity is the Power Disc system.

Power Discs come in two varieties, circular discs, and hexagonal discs. Circular Discs award stat modifiers when applied to a character while Hexagonal Discs give access to an in-game item.
Unlike Skylanders where a stat increase is attached to a figurine, Power Discs can be applied and swapped between characters by simply placing a Power Disc underneath a character’s base.
There’s quite a few Power Discs already revealed and for jumping aboard the Disney Infinity bandwagon ahead of launch, you’ll receive two packs of Power Discs – each pack includes a random circular and hexagonal disc, four random discs in total. At first, I thought the discs were nothing more than a piece of cardboard but it turns out they are made of transparent plastic that’s surprisingly higher quality than I first thought.
